What can Tiger Woods Teach Us About Security?

Came across this Blog article discussing what we can learn about mobile device security from Tiger Woods. While the piece is largely geared towards mobile phone devices (and not ruggedized handheld mobile devices), its principles are the same and the context which the author presents the material is, at the least, going to get a smile or two.

The Somewhat Secret Giveaway Details

As we mentioned earlier in the week, we are giving away 20 secret prizes to those who follow us on any of our Social Networking sites at next week’s Motorola Channel Partner Expo, which is hosted at the fabulous Aria Resort & Casino.

Now, keep in mind there are only 20 to giveaway, so you’ll need to act fast. We’ll be handing them out to anyone who mentions they heard about the giveaway via our Blog, Twitter or Facebook during Monday evenings reception (5:30 – 7:00pm). So stop by booth 600 Monday night and collect yours… we really think it will be something you’ll like come Tuesday morning.

Out and About

A quick update on the happenings this week and a teaser for later in the week…

Lots of going on in APAC this week. We’ll be at the Intermec ANZ Developer Conference (March 2 – 3) in Sydney, Australia and also the Motorola South Asia Partner Conference (March 3 – 5) in Bangkok, Thailand. We’ll try and snap some pictures and post them as we can, but if you take any good ones yourselves, send them along with a caption and we’ll post them. Consider it your chance to be a guest blogger for the week!

Also, stop by later this week for a special event announcement in conjunction with the Motorola Channel Partner Expo in Las Vegas next week. We are giving away special gifts for our Blog and Twitter friends, and we’ll announce how to get it later this week.

Talk to you then!

Today’s happenings

Speakeasy in action

As you may have seen, we are working on the release of our mobile device and infrastructure management solution, Avalanche 5, and things have been moving quickly around these parts!  I just had the chance to see some of the new features in action, and without getting into a sales pitch, I will just say that it is pretty neat. Stay tuned for more information on that front.

The other thing I want to point out is the upcoming Webinar on adding Voice to mobile devices. The material that is going to be shown is pretty impressive, so if you have some time on Thursday check it out. Rumor has it, there may be some free demo’s provided for those who attend!

Wavelink Avalanche 5 in Orlando

Wavelink at Moto Sales Conference

Here is a look at the Wavelink booth (704) from Orlando at the Motorola Sales Conference. As you can see, we are featuring the upcoming release of Avalanche 5.

Stop by and take a peek!  In the meantime, we’ll try and post some more photos up as we get them.

Happen to be in Orlando this week?

Make sure that if you are attending the Intermec Global Partner Summit (Today – Wednesday) or the Motorola Sales Conference (Today – Thursday) that you visit us! We are at booth 309 at the Intermec show and booth 704 at the Motorola show. If you can, swing by and say hello… you can even grab a cool new water bottle while they last!

Super Bowl Post

In preparation for my Super Bowl festivities, I came across this and it begs the obvious question… wouldn’t RFID be a good solution?

Voice in 2010

We were pointed to this article via Twitter (might be wise to follow us, here). It does a pretty good job of quickly summing up the case for adding Voice to existing or new devices, and how it plays out as an emerging theme in 2010.

Check it out and tell us what you think…

3 Emerging Themes in Retail Enterprise Mobility

With all the news last week from NRF, Paul Shiman, VP Marketing at Stratix discusses three main themes he sees emerging with enterprise mobility in the Retail space. He also links to another article by Matt Pillar of Retail Solutions Online which also touches on the subject. Good to see one of our 2008 Partners of the Year, Direct Source, mentioned in the article as well.

Green IT?

Saw this yesterday and wanted to get it posted, but wasn’t able to. Anyhow, the concept of “Green IT” is mentioned here and it made me wonder how many of you are familiar with it, and if so, do you think it will be a hot trend for 2010?
